Mental Performance Coaching with Alexandra

Improve the way you perform at the tables. Learn how to manage your tilt, understand your mental patterns and become the best version of yourself!

Mental Performance Coaching involves addressing various non-strategic elements that significantly impact your success and win rate in poker. This includes managing emotions, handling tilt, maintaining focus, and establishing effective routines. Additionally, it extends to practical aspects like bankroll management and game selection. I provide personalized mental game coaching designed specifically for you as a poker player. Here are some of the areas I can assist you with:

Personalized Approach: I'll take the time to understand your individual needs, goals, and beliefs. Together, we'll tailor mental strategies that suit you best, ensuring a personalized coaching experience focused on your specific areas of improvement.

Supportive guidance: As a poker pro, I empathize with the challenges and struggles you may face along your poker journey. I'll provide a supportive environment where you can openly discuss your concerns, ask questions, and receive guidance tailored to your level of expertise.

Pattern exploration: I will support you in becoming aware of the patterns that influence your game, diving deeper into their origin, and learning to detach from those to make better, more rational decisions.

Emotional Control and Tilt Management: Tilt can be a player's worst enemy. I will equip you with effective tools to keep emotions in check, maintain composure, and prevent tilt from affecting your gameplay. You'll learn how to stay calm under pressure, bounce back from setbacks, and make rational decisions in every hand.

Focus and Concentration Enhancement: Maintaining laser-sharp focus during long sessions is crucial. I will guide you through exercises and strategies to improve your concentration skills. You'll learn how to eliminate distraction and stay in the zone.

Confidence Building: Confidence is key in poker. I'll support you build self-belief, overcome self-doubt, and develop a winning mindset.

Decision-Making Enhancement: Making informed decisions is vital for poker success. I will help you sharpen your analytical thinking and decision-making abilities, enabling you to assess probabilities, evaluate risks, and select optimal plays.

Bankroll Management: proper bankroll management is essential for long-term success in poker. I can assist you in developing discipline and sound financial management skills. You'll learn to set realistic goals, handle winning and losing streaks, and avoid impulsive decisions that can deplete your bankroll, or staying too long at low stakes due to the uncomfortability of moving up.

For those interested, my counselling approach combines Transactional Analysis (TA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Techniques. (more below)

Rates: As counselling/ mental coaching is not a one-session thing (meaning not much can actually change in 1 hour, or if it does, change is usually not long-lasting) I’d highly advise you to go for a bundle. I offer 5 sessions x 1 hour for $500 (this is a discounted price and will only be available for a few students) or alternatively 1h session for $150. (However I do not recommend this second option, unless for very hands-on issues that you need simple guidance/ advice for)

Transactional Analysis (TA):

Overview: Transactional Analysis is a psychotherapeutic approach developed by Eric Berne. It focuses on analyzing and understanding an individual's social transactions or interactions. TA divides the personality into three ego states: Parent, Adult, and Child, and these ego states influence an individual's behavior and interactions.

Key Concepts: The key concepts in TA include ego states, life scripts, and transactions. It aims to help individuals recognize and change unhealthy patterns of communication and behavior by understanding these concepts.

Goal: The goal of TA is to promote personal growth, improve communication, and resolve inner conflicts by making individuals more aware of their ego states and transactional patterns.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT):

Overview: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a mindfulness-based approach that focuses on accepting one's thoughts and feelings while committing to actions that align with one's values. It was developed by Steven C. Hayes.

Key Concepts: Key concepts in ACT include mindfulness, values, and committed action. It encourages individuals to be present in the moment, accept their internal experiences, and take action based on their values, rather than being controlled by negative thoughts and emotions.

Goal: The goal of ACT is to enhance psychological flexibility, which enables individuals to live a more meaningful life by understanding and managing their internal experiences while pursuing their values and goals.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT):

Overview: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is a widely practiced approach that focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It was developed by Aaron T. Beck and Albert Ellis. CBT aims to identify and challenge negative thought patterns and replace them with more positive and adaptive ones.

Key Concepts: The key concepts in CBT include cognitive distortions, automatic thoughts, and behavior modification. It involves changing irrational and negative beliefs to improve emotional well-being and behavior.

Goal: CBT aims to help individuals manage and alleviate symptoms of various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and phobias by addressing the cognitive processes that contribute to these issues.
